Welcome to the Single-Column Layout Generator. Previously, this generator created layouts primarily for Neopets petpages and was located on my old graphic website. Then, a short while ago, I realized that it could produce regular website layouts as well, so I reconfigured it a bit and put it up here so that you could use it.
The coding produced by this generator is valid XHTML 1.0 and valid CSS Level 2.1, and it works in just about every browser/browser version.
Special thanks to Kiirani for coding the PHP. I'm
terrible at scripting languages, so without her, this generator would not exist.
Rules and Guidelines
Please read the following rules if you want this generator to work correctly (which I'm imagining you do :P).
- Please note that you will need a color chart to enter in the necessary information, so you can visit Tutorialtastic's Guide to find all the hexadecimal colors you'll need. Bring it up in a new window if possible (I do this in Firefox by right-clicking the link and pressing "Open Link in New Tab") because in certain browsers, clicking back and forth might cause all your typed information to be lost.
- When there is a field that requires a hexadecimal color, do not include the # when entering the code. So, instead of typing in #000000, type in 000000. Otherwise, your colors will not work.
- Don't choose fonts that are not default on your computer. Other people will only be able to see fonts that their computers have, so if you choose a font that they don't have, it won't show up as the font you originally desired.
- Take a glance at this layout model to see what you're editing. It's very basic but should still help.
- If you don't like the layout you create, remember that there's no limit to the number of times you can use this generator!
- I would appreciate it if you left in my link so that others could find their way here. If you really don't want to, I suppose I can't stop you. Just make sure you're not taking credit for the code created.
- The layouts you can create here are not intended to serve as formal website designs. Sure, you can use them however you want, but I'd personally recommend that you use them for smaller pages, under construction websites, temporary designs, etc.
Note for "Page Background" fields: Please enter a background color even if you are choosing to use an image. Also, if you are not choosing to use a background image, leave the "Background Image URL" field blank.
