» Webpage Reviews

7/21/08 - Please note that I am currently not accepting reviews. I already have a few websites in my queue already, so until I finish reviewing those, I can't help you. Sorry.

Are you someone who desperately needs good constructive criticism for your webpage but are having trouble finding a place where you can get it? If so, you've found the right place, because I'd be glad to review the website of almost anyone who asks.

Unlike certain WPR owners who give only the bare minimum amounts of advice, I like to be as thorough as possible with my reviews. This is because I feel that short statements like "needs more content" aren't really aiding anyone; extensive reviews are much better, as they're more helpful and have more quality.

Anyone who wants to get a personalized review from me may send me a message via spiffy contact form, specifying where his or her website is located (as well as the fact that a webpage review is desired, of course).

Guidelines

Before any people consider submitting their webpages, I'd advise that they fully understand the rules and guidelines provided:

  1. No websites containing pornography or explicit content will be reviewed.
  2. I tend to avoid reviewing websites that are hosted under free public hosts, such as freewebs, freehostia, neopets, etc--that is, unless the website has been up and running for a substantial amount of time (ie. 6 or so months).
  3. All reviews I make will be public and will be posted in the form of a blog entry. If anyone would rather get critiques through a more private means, he or she may consider going to a person who's happy to provide critiques via e-mail instead. No one should be scared of me, though--despite anything anyone may have told you, I am not a scary, evil person. :P
  4. Anyone whose website is reviewed must have the ability to take criticism. If I suggest something, don't say, "well at least my _____ is better than yours!" The ability to take criticism is an important sign of maturity and will get you far in life (at least, that's what I've always thought).
  5. Before sending in a website, make sure it's at least presentable and that you're completely finished with its creation. I honestly don't want to waste my time critiquing something, only to have the website owner explain to me how he or she was going to fix it anyway.
  6. If I review you, a small link back on a credits page or anywhere else on your website would be appreciated.
  7. My reviews tend to take a while to complete, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a few weeks before seeing your review. :)

So I heard you don't score..?

Yep, that's right. I don't ever include any official ratings, because many websites have potential even though it might not appear so at first glance. For this reason, I've decided to drop the scoring process altogether. It's not like I'm trying to "make everyone feel good", even though it might seem this way. I'm just taking into account the fact that websites can improve drastically, so therefore it wouldn't be fair to stick a rating that exists forever onto a website that can improve greatly.

Reviewed

The following webpages have been reviewed here. If you'd like to read the actual reviews and analyze my "style", click "Review" next to any of the website names.

Queue

This is basically a waiting list for websites I've promised to review.
