About Everything

» About My Humble Existence

My name is Lydia. I am a quirky introvert who enjoys listening to weird music, initiating heated political discussions, and sitting alone in her lovely orange room. Once you get to know me, you might learn to love me, though it's far more probable that you'll find me more annoying than anything else.

If I were to run for president, my official slogan would be "normalcy is overrated". I have no concept of social graces and can be painfully awkward--socially impaired, even. I learned at an early age that I am not a "people person", but that's okay--I figure there are professions that are designed for weird people like me.

If I had to describe myself in two words, I'd call myself a pensive idealist, though what exactly it is that I idealize is a little more difficult to explain. I like to think, write, and create. Anything technical and boring--like medical data entry--doesn't deserve to exist.

In terms of beliefs, I am a Christian and am always seeking to grow closer to God. Society challenges my beliefs every day, but this only makes me stronger, because it forces me to gain a greater understanding of what exactly it is that I believe.

I like to work at my parents' health clinic occasionally and am active at my school. I used to serve on its student council, but my ever-growing interest in my school's debate team has rendered that activity all but impossible.

Past Web Experiences

I've been on the "web scene" since around 2001 or so and have always enjoyed working my creative juices. When I was in elementary school, I remember making "magazines" on Microsoft Word and distributing them to my entire class--while at the same time depleting my parents' pricey ink cartridges. A Smashed-Crayon Layout In 2003 or so, I signed up for an account at a free webhost and created a website for my little magazine. My classmates used to all visit that website and awe at all the "hilarious" (now that I look back, I realize they were very stupid) articles I provided.

I thoroughly enjoyed all that, and it was only a matter of time before I discovered the infamous Neopets website and wandered into the world of HTML before subsequently learning how to use CSS. Soon after, I signed up for a freewebs account--on which I distributed Neopets graphics and layouts. To my surprise, the website actually became pretty popular, so I opened up my own domain called "Smashed-Crayon" (how do I name this stuff?), where I essentially did the same thing and reached almost 1400 unique hits a day while earning a significant sum via Google Adsense.

After a few years of creating graphics, however, I realized that a most of my creations were able to be found at numerous other graphic websites and saw that my work wasn't original in the least. At that point, I had grown tired of churning out "textures" and "brushes" all the time. That, combined with the fact that I was getting extremely busy with schoolwork, played a factor in my decision to close my site in January of 2008.

In the subsequent March, however, I starting yearning for a website again, so I decided to create the website you see before you.

Anomalyd.com

This website serves as my creative outlet and includes a compilation of many of my typed articles. The main goal of Anomalyd is to inform you, the visitor, on various topics about which I've gained knowledge and formed opinions. Since there won't be a load of graphics for me to update every week, I feel that this website will be a lot less stressful for me and therefore much more enjoyable to run.
